Ash Street Bed and Breakfast

Piqua, OH

THE INN:

The land on which the Inn is located was originally given to Colonel Caldwell by Thomas Jefferson for his outstanding performance during the French and Indian War. The grant consisted of 1800 acres on which the city of Piqua was built.

The original house was built in 1840 (approximately 2800 sq. ft), and owned by William Scott. Scott was also the owner of a general store and President of the first bank in Piqua.

In 1853 construction of the front portion of the home was started and the 5,000 sq. ft. addition took approximately one year to complete. The original living area then became the servants quarters, informal dining area and kitchen.

The home has had several different usages through the years ranging from family residence, used for church meetings and was a home of the aged for 16 years.

In 1993 Rise and Chuck Cochran purchased the home and began extensive restoration which took over 16 months. The Lawsons are the 10th owners in the history of the home however not the first to operate a Bed and Breakfast. The Cochran's operated the "Camberely" bed and breakfast from this beautiful home for about 6 years.
